Strava Photos on Mobile
2016
Led UX design for photo upload on Strava's mobile apps — a feature that transformed activity posts from data records into rich, visual stories.
The core challenge was designing for a wide spectrum of intent: a user adding a single shot at the end of a run needed the same frictionless experience as someone documenting a full day in the mountains with dozens of photos. The solution surfaces photos taken during the activity window immediately after recording, reducing selection effort while keeping the flow optional and unobtrusive.
Delivered a cohesive set of upload flows covering post-activity, standalone, and retroactive sharing scenarios. Photos integrate into the activity as a browsable strip and as swappable overlays on the route map — making activities feel more personal and encouraging social engagement across the platform.
